About Us
The Creation of CFIT
The Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT) was created as a key recommendation of the Kalifa Review of UK Fintech in 2021. The Kalifa review recommended the establishment of a Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT). At the Spending Review in 2021, the government confirmed it would provide seed funding to get CFIT up and running and HM Treasury selected the City of London Corporation as the delivery partner.
CFIT launched on Tuesday, 28 February 2023 at Nexus, Leeds University. As a leading regional hub of the Northern Powerhouse (NPH), Leeds was the perfect place to launch CFIT – offering a great opportunity to see how regional hubs and CFIT will work together with the next generation of innovators across academia, industry, investment, finance, technology, and beyond.
